The cute and cuddly Morkie. The kind of pup that will follow you from room to room and will always want to play. These doggos only weigh between 7-13 pounds, but theyâve got big personalities. They are so silly that it is hard not to smile when around them. These pups love making new friends and will get along with humans and other dogs alike. Taking your Morkie to the dog park is a great way to let them socialize, however, due to their small size, it is recommended to only let them play in the small dog section.
The Morkie is a mixed breed, it is a cross between a Maltese and a Yorkshire Terrier. The dog was bred sometime in the 1990s in North America to create a breed that is a great companion and at the same time does not shed much. The Morkie certainly achieved the desired characteristics, as they shed very little and are considered to be hypoallergenic. These pups are also sometimes referred to as a âMorkshire Terrierâ, but Morkie is the name most people know them by.
Nicknamed as âloving fluffballsâ, the Morkie loves to socialize. They need to be watched closely because their playful nature can easily lead them to get injured, whether it be a bigger dog or a child that was playing too rough. These pups have a stubborn side to them as well. They can be very difficult to train early on, but with enough patience and work, they generally come around and can learn many different commands.
Surprisingly these little guys make excellent watchdogs. While they wonât exactly be able to attack the intruder, they will start barking as soon as they feel something is wrong. Owners tend to get very attached to their Morkies because they display so much love and affection, it is no wonder why these dogs have been becoming more and more popular. Bring one of these cuties home, and youâll quickly have a new best friend.
