The Doberdor is a large dog that is very loyal to its family. They have protective instincts and will make a great watchdog. Weighing between 60-100 pounds, the Doberdor will not shy away from defending against an intruder, and their heavy bark should be enough to scare just about anyone off of your property. When they are not in guarding mode, these pups are lovable animals that have kind personalities. Their family is their number one priority, and they will enjoy spending time with their loved ones.
This dog is a mixed breed, combining the Doberman Pinscher and the Labrador Retriever. It is not entirely clear when breeders began intentionally mixing these two purebred dogs, but the personality of the Doberdor reflects their parent breeds. Their guarding instincts were passed on by their Doberman parent, while their softer side seems to be more in line with the popular Labrador Retriever.
Also referred to as “Labraman”, this dog is highly intelligent and will love playing mentally stimulating games. Like most dogs with a high level of intelligence, the Doberdor can also be quite stubborn. Training them from an early age is critical if you want your pup to be well-behaved and be able to listen to commands. Given their large size and difficulty to train, they are recommended for a more experienced dog owner. Their owner will need to be ready to dedicate both the time and the effort to make sure that they stay on the right track.
The Doberdor is a highly energetic dog and will require intense exercise daily. These doggos are friendly with other dogs and love to socialize and play. Taking your pup to an off-leash dog park or trail is a great way for them to burn off their excess energy. Due to their high energy levels, it is more suitable to have a backyard area available for them to stretch their legs. When these dogs do receive the exercise they need, they will love hanging out around the house and enjoying the company of their beloved family.
