The Eurasier is an intelligent, even-tempered breed. They are pack-oriented and do great in families with kids. They are very gentle, but at the same time will always be protective and make a great watchdog. The Eurasier is extremely alert to their surroundings and has a keen sense of when something is not right.
This 40-71 pound dog was introduced in Germany in the 1960s by a man named Julius Wipfel. The breed was originally a combination of the Chow-Chow, the Wolfspitz, and the Samoyed, however, they became very popular and quickly became a distinct breed. The name Eurasier was given to the breed to capture both its European and Asian backgrounds.
These pups have earned many nicknames over the years. You will hear people referring to them as “Eurasian”, “Eurasian Spitz” and even “Wolf Chow”. Regardless of how people refer to them, the agreement between all is what an amazing animal they are.
It is important to know that the Eurasier does not enjoy being alone. Their pack instinct will have them wanting to be with the family as much as possible. Being away from their people for long periods can lead to these pups becoming depressed. If trained properly, these dogs will be nonaggressive towards other people and will get along well with other dogs. Overall, these pups have such a mellow attitude that it is an absolute pleasure to be with them!
