Formosan Mountain Dog

These pups are also known as Taiwan Dogs or Village dogs. They are not an official breed, the Formosan Mountain Dogs are simply dogs that live in the streets of Taiwan. These animals are such amazing pets but are unfortunately not living in ideal conditions.

All FMD’s are rescues. They often come from terrifying situations on the streets of Taiwan, and it is extremely rare for them to find any type of home locally. They are often very shy because of their poor exposure to humans in their street life. Thankfully, adopting these dogs is growing in popularity in North America.

Something very important about adopting these dogs is getting to know the rescue organization. Since it is unknown as to what these dogs have been exposed to, a good rescue organization will have already taken in the dogs and will get to know them and their characteristics. These pups are such great pets and deserve a second chance. They’re active, very playful, and LOVE cuddles!
