This dog can be best described as a gentle giant. The Golden Mountain Dog has a pure heart, and they make excellent family pets. They love to be in the company of children and other pets alike and demonstrate a great deal of affection to their families. Their big size and loving nature make them very comforting to be around, and you can be sure that your pup will love nothing more than being around their people too.
The breed is a mix between the Bernese Mountain Dog and the Golden Retriever. Both of these breeds are known to be very caring and friendly, and these traits certainly got passed on. The Breed can weigh anywhere between 75-120 pounds depending, of course, on the gender and the pup's parents. This mixed breed is relatively new, however, their exact origin is not entirely clear.
These dogs are known to be highly intelligent and are very trainable. They will love learning and performing new tricks, especially if there are some treats involved. These pups also have quite a bit of energy, so taking them to the dog park is a great way for them to remain active. Due to their large size and thick coat, these doggos definitely prefer a colder climate. Taking them out in the heat will exhaust them, so be sure to bring plenty of water for your fur friend when you take them out in the summer.
One of the great qualities about this breed is that they do not encounter many health problems(*knock on wood*). They do have a slightly shorter lifespan, typically living between 9-12 years, as is common for larger dogs. The Golden Mountain Dog will bring so much joy into your life that you will soon forget how you ever managed to live without them. As much as they love to play and run, they will also be extremely happy to cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie with you on a night at home.
