The Potcake is a mixed dog breed from the Caribbean islands. These pups are all living on the streets and are essentially all rescues. There is an issue with overpopulation with these dogs, which is leading to a lot of them suffering. They are often not treated the best by locals, and there is often not enough food for all of them on the streets.

The locals on these islands cook a dish made from rice and peas that leaves a cakey substance at the bottom of the pot. This is left for the street dogs which is where their name originates. While eating this type of food would be difficult on the stomach of many dogs, the Potcake has developed a tough stomach that allows them to eat a wider range of foods.

Since these dogs are somewhat unknown mixes, their characteristics can often vary. A Potcake that has been living on the street for many years is understandably territorial and wary of humans. Rescuing these puppies from birth, however, is a different story. They are loving, loyal, and very cuddly, they just want plenty of love like any other dog.
