Mount Albert Road, Berhampore, Wellington 6023, New Zealand park-icon-wath
If you're a dog owner in Wellington looking for a place for your furry friend to romp around, the official dog park on Mount Albert Road in Berhampore offers a fenced environment that's great for playtime. The park features multiple spacious grass areas with a loop track that provides a flat, open space for fetch and running. The layout includes a two-gate entry point for added security, making it a safe spot for your dog to explore. While the park features beautiful views and a bush walking track—where dogs should be on-leash—it's important to note that there can be some muddy spots, especially in wet weather, which dogs typically love to roll around in. However, there are a few downsides to consider. Users have reported litter in the bush area, posing a risk for scavenging dogs, with a recent incident involving a vape refill bottle that was left behind. Additionally, some visitors mentioned that poo bags are not consistently refilled at the entrance, which can be inconvenient. While the park is popular and busier during peak hours—making it potentially challenging for nervous or reactive dogs—its large size allows for enough space to enjoy some peace and quiet during off-peak times. Do be mindful of limited parking options when planning your visit. Overall, it remains a community-supported space worth checking out for active dogs!

Pros: Great that it is fenced in. Cons: full of rubbish in bush shrub, dangerous to scavenger dogs - my pup picked up a vape refil bottle with liquid still full. No poo bags refilled at entrance.

Beautiful view! Well fenced, including two-gate entry points. A great place to play fetch and run around. On a hill so you get a work out too!

Pros. Very large park with a loop track on the flat. Multiple separate grass areas. A local volunteer group operation is also constantly planting native plants to restore the park. A nice bush walk in the hills (NOTE: this is ON LEASH). This park has a lot of visitors, most of which are friendly and understanding. Cons: it gets a bit muddy in wet weather. There are a few places that puddle and drainage ditches the the dogs love to play in that are very muddy. Very busy so can be challenging for nervous or reactive dogs, but large enough to bo ok during off peak times. Limited parking lot.
