This off-leash park is basically a well-fenced, flat, square paddock (approx 200 metres square), with a dog-safe double gateway, poo bag dispenser and bin. There are 3 short concrete pipes of varied diameters just inside the entry for the pooches to run through, and quite a number of small but growing trees scattered around the park. The facility is well-patronised by dog-owners living in Longford and beyond, as well as folk with pooches staying at the nearby caravan park. Location is next to the large South Esk/Macquarie river junction and wide boat ramp access road (Union St), and there is a large parking area immediately adjacent to the park, so very easy access... All surrounding parks and walking trails are ON-lead only, BUT there is an excellent walking track and road that takes you under the big road and rail bridges and on down the riverside to the Mill Dam Reserve. From there, you can continue to loop along a gravel road and a dedicated public walking track via farmland to the main road into Longford, past the Hill St shopping mall and back down Union St to your original starting point again. The round trip is an easy, mostly flat 30 to 45 minute walk... Suggested improvements? More obstacles for the dogs to play on. Water (although dogs can drink from the adjacent river, as long as they're on the lead).
